510/1600 Steering Box Support Brace – Polished or Powdercoated

Lift the bonnet of your 1600 and have a helper move the steering wheel quickly left and right – watch how much the steering box moves. That flex is the cause of the well-known 1600 “see-saw” steering effect when cornering hard. The Datsport Steering Box Support Brace eliminates that movement, giving sharper steering response and better chassis control.

Under load, the steering box twists the chassis rail, acting like a spring. When the load changes (such as over bumps or ripples), the chassis springs back, unsettling the steering. Our original brace design fixes this by using a stainless steel lower section with a strong lattice top brace – far more resistant to chassis rail flex than a single-layer brace. Available in polished or satin black powdercoat finishes to suit your build.
