1) Overview
At Datsport, we take pride in producing and supplying high-quality performance parts and rebuild services for Datsun vehicles. While most customers are completely satisfied with their purchases, we understand there are situations where a return, exchange, or refund may be required. This policy outlines how those situations are handled and what steps you need to take.
Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). If your item is faulty, unsafe, or not as described, you are entitled to a remedy such as repair, replacement, or refund, depending on the circumstances.
2) Return Window
We allow returns for change-of-mind or incorrect purchases within 30 days of the delivery date. After this period, we may still consider warranty claims for defective products where applicable. To qualify for a return:
- You must contact us within 30 days of receiving your order.
- The goods must be in resaleable condition: unused, uninstalled, and in original packaging.
- Proof of purchase must be supplied (order confirmation or invoice).
If the issue relates to a faulty, damaged, or incorrectly supplied item, please contact us immediately so we can arrange a solution in line with the ACL. The sooner we know, the quicker we can resolve the problem for you.
3) Eligibility for a Return (Parts)
- Returned items must be in the same condition as received: clean, unmarked, and free from oil, grease, or installation marks.
- All accessories, mounting hardware, instructions, and packaging must be included.
- Items showing signs of fitting or use cannot be returned unless faulty under warranty.
- Return requests must be authorised in writing by Datsport before shipping back to us.
4) Items Not Eligible
Certain products cannot be returned unless defective under the ACL:
- Custom-made, modified, or special-order components manufactured to suit your specific build.
- Installed electrical items, due to the risk of damage during installation or testing.
- Products damaged through improper handling, installation, or misuse.
- Hazardous or restricted items such as paints, chemicals, flammable liquids, or gases.
- Gift cards, vouchers, and downloadable digital products.
- Sale or clearance items, unless defective.
5) Services (e.g., Steering Box Rebuilds)
- Deposits are required to secure rebuild bookings. Once work has commenced or parts are ordered, deposits become non-refundable.
- If supplied core components are unsuitable or beyond repair, we will notify you. Where possible, we’ll offer alternatives (e.g., exchange units) or a partial refund covering only unspent labour/parts.
- Rebuild services are supplied with a workmanship warranty (typically 90 days) unless otherwise specified at the time of booking.
- If workmanship issues are identified during the warranty period, we will first attempt repair or rework. If repair is not possible within a reasonable timeframe, a replacement or refund may be offered.
6) Exchanges
- If you accidentally order the wrong part, we can exchange it for the correct one provided it is unused and in original packaging.
- Customer responsibility: You cover the return shipping and any difference in product price if it was a change-of-mind or incorrect order.
- Datsport responsibility: If we supplied the wrong part, we cover return shipping and resend the correct part at no additional cost.
- To speed up the process, you may place a new order for the correct item and return the original for a refund once received and inspected.
7) Restocking Fee
All approved returns and exchanges for change-of-mind or incorrect orders are subject to a 15% restocking fee. This fee covers handling, inspection, repackaging, and administrative costs. The fee is deducted from the refund amount. Restocking fees do not apply to returns due to faults, damage, or incorrect supply by Datsport. In rare cases, the fee may be waived at our discretion.
8) Warranty Coverage
- Most Datsport-manufactured parts are supplied with a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects, unless otherwise stated.
- Rebuild services (e.g., steering box restorations) include a 90-day workmanship warranty unless otherwise specified.
- Third-party or non-Datsport branded products may carry the manufacturer’s own warranty terms, which we pass on where applicable.
- Some items may not carry an express warranty. Where no express warranty is provided, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law still apply.
- Warranty does not cover wear and tear, damage caused by misuse, improper installation, or use outside intended purpose.
9) Faulty, Damaged, or Incorrect Items
- Inspect your delivery as soon as possible and notify us of any issues.
- Email photos/videos and your order number to datsport@solidmechanical.com.au.
- We will assess the problem and provide a resolution, which may include repair, replacement, or refund.
Where a product has a major failure (unsafe, unusable, or significantly different from description), you are entitled to a refund or replacement. For minor failures, we will repair or replace within a reasonable time.
10) Shipping Costs & Responsibility
- Original shipping fees are non-refundable unless the return is due to our mistake or a defective item.
- Customers are responsible for safe packaging of returns. Damage during return transit remains the sender’s responsibility until received and inspected.
- We recommend using a tracked and insured shipping method for all returns to avoid loss or damage in transit.
11) Return Shipping Labels
- For change-of-mind returns, customers must arrange and pay for their own return postage.
- For incorrect or faulty items, Datsport will provide return instructions and, where possible, a prepaid shipping label.
12) Processing Times
- Returns are usually inspected within 2–3 business days of arrival at our workshop.
- Approved refunds are processed within 5–10 business days to your original payment method.
- Banks and payment providers may take additional time to finalise transfers.
13) International Orders
- You are responsible for return shipping, customs fees, import duties, and taxes.
- Please clearly mark parcels as “Returned Goods” to avoid duplicate customs charges.
- We cannot refund costs associated with delays caused by customs or carriers.
- In the event of faulty or incorrectly supplied goods, we will work with you to arrange the most cost-effective solution.
14) European Union 14-Day Cooling-Off Period
If goods are shipped into the EU, consumers have the right to cancel or return their order within 14 days without providing a reason. Conditions:
- Goods must be in the same condition as received, unused, and in original packaging.
- Proof of purchase must be provided.
- This right does not apply to custom-made or special-order items.
15) Installation Disclaimer
Datsport products are designed for professional or competent DIY installation. Refunds and warranties cannot be offered where damage, failure, or poor performance is caused by:
- Incorrect or incomplete installation.
- Use of incompatible components.
- Improper handling, misuse, or neglect.
- Racing, competition, or off-road use beyond normal expectations.
16) Refund Process
- We will email you with confirmation of approval or explanation of rejection once your return is received and inspected.
- Approved refunds are processed within 5–10 business days via your original payment method.
- Your bank or payment provider may take additional time to clear the funds.
- If more than 15 business days have passed since approval and you have not received your refund, please contact us.
17) How to Lodge a Return
- Email datsport@solidmechanical.com.au with your order number, reason for return, and supporting photos if applicable.
- Wait for written authorisation and return instructions. Do not send items without prior approval.
